Autism Explorers
Norfolk, UK – Autism Explorers, a growing community group, supporting families of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), is celebrating a season of success, recognition, and exciting partnerships.
Autism Explorers mission is to create and provide a safe and inclusive environment for all SEN children, young individuals and families.
Founded by Lillian, a passionate SEND advocate and teaching assistant, Autism Explorers was created to provide meaningful, autism specific activities and experiences for children and their families. What began as a small dream to make extracurricular play more accessible for autistic children has now flourished into a recognised and trusted support network in Norfolk.
In Spring 2025, Autism Explorers was proud to launch its first stay-and-play session, a warm and inclusive environment where children can explore sensory play, fine and gross motor activities, communication development, and imaginative learning through themed events — all designed specifically for neurodivergent minds.
The organisation’s impact has been recognised by Norfolk County Council, who have provided local funding support to help Autism Explorers grow and continue delivering accessible, high-quality experiences for families who often find themselves underserved or on long waiting lists for other services.
As a result of its dedicated work and clear mission, Autism Explorers has also been named a finalist in the 2025 Flourish Awards, a prestigious recognition for social enterprises making a difference in the region.
Adding to its success, Autism Explorers has begun a dynamic collaboration with STEMEX, introducing creative science, technology, engineering, and maths-themed workshops adapted for SEND learners. These sessions aim to empower children through curiosity, hands-on learning, and inclusive exploration of the world around them — all while ensuring that sessions remain sensory-friendly and play-led.
Autism Explorers continues to expand its offerings with upcoming 1:1 support sessions, school holiday clubs, and community collaborations that promote autism acceptance across Norfolk.
Autism Explorers has a new project called, “Inclusive Norfolk” this is a project that combines community and inclusiveness to create an accepting environment for SEN families to enjoy. To be added to our map and receive our support packs, get involved and email us!
